In September, my Lady, Diane and I took a two day trip to the Lake Superior north shore, mainly to see Split Rock Lighthouse. We left on a Sunday and planned to travel all the way to the Canadian border, then turn around and drive back. When we arrived in Duluth on a very warm Sunday, the effect of warm air and cold water created a heavy fog that was extended inland between a quarter and half mile. We drove all the way to Grand Marais, where we stayed at Naniboujou Lodge. It the fog, it was an interesting drive up US61. The fog dissipated overnight and we arose to see a beautiful sunrise. After watching the sunrise, we enjoyed breakfast and drove on. After getting to the border, we turned around and stopped at Grand Portage National Monument and all the state parks along the route back to Duluth.
