At Thanksgiving time in 2009, I had a chance to spend the holiday in San Francisco with my Lady, Diane and her eldest son. We decided for me to fly to Los Angeles, rent a car, then pick her up in Santa Monica where she was visiting friends. We then drove up the central coast to San Francisco.
I flew out via Denver and arrived at LAX on Sunday, the 22nd. I drove to Santa Monica, where we all went out to the pier to see the sunset.
The next day, Monday the 23rd, Diane and I left for San Francisco on route 1, driving through Malibu and Santa Barbara to San Luis Obispo.
On Tuesday, we visited Hearst Castle at San Simeon and saw elephant seals before stopping at Big Sur.
On Wednesday, we drove through Monterey and Carmel and completed our drive to San Francisco, arriving at her son's house in the evening.
The following Monday, we spent the day at the Golden Gate and visited Muir Woods, followed by Muir Beach to end the day. After a wonderful dinner in Sausalito, we returned to San Francisco.
We enjoyed an wonderful urban Thanksgiving at a local restaurant and spent Friday. Saturday, and Sunday seeing the sights of the city.
After attending concerts in San Francisco on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, we drove back to Los Angeles on Thursday and I flew home on Friday.
